New Delhi, September 12 (HS): India and the European Union (EU) have reiterated their commitment to expeditiously conclude negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA), Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday. He stressed that a balanced and mutually beneficial FTA would create new opportunities for people and businesses on both sides.
The ongoing FTA negotiations are being led from the European Union’s side by Maroš Šefčovič, Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, and Christoph Hansen, Commissioner for Agriculture and Food, who are currently on a two-day visit to India from September 12–13 along with an EU delegation.
Goyal hosted a dinner meeting with the visiting EU leaders on Friday. In a post shared on ‘X’, he expressed his delight at welcoming his counterparts, noting, “As negotiations on the India–EU FTA continue, we reaffirm our shared commitment to an early conclusion. A balanced and mutually beneficial agreement will open new avenues for businesses and citizens of both regions.”
