Washington, August 6(HS): US President Donald J. Trump criticized India’s high tariffs, claiming they hinder trade between the two countries, making India an unfavorable trading partner for America.

In an August 5 interview with CNBC, he stated that while India engages in considerable trade with the US, the opposite is not true. Trump mentioned a 25 percent tariff agreement and indicated plans for significant increases soon. He accused India of purchasing oil from Russia and supporting its fighter jet operations.

While discussing his accomplishments, Trump addressed US-China relations, expressing optimism about a potential agreement before year-end. He emphasized that America is profiting from historic trade deals worldwide, also mentioning his Most Favored Nation drug pricing plan and the reduction of foreign workers during his tenure.

Additionally, Trump lambasted major banks for alleged bias against conservatives. He announced plans for new tariffs on semiconductors and chips to promote domestic manufacturing, acknowledging that most advanced semiconductors are sourced from Taiwan without further details on the strategy.
