India reclaim Champions Trophy title 2025, defeats NZ by 4 wickets in Dubai

Dubai, 9 March (H.S.): The ninth ICC Champions Trophy concluded on Sunday in Dubai, with India winning its third title by defeating New Zealand by four wickets. India previously won in 2013 and shared the title with Sri Lanka in 2002.

Chasing 252 for a record third title,India started strong with a 105-run opening stand by Rohit Sharma (76) and Gill (31). Despite tense moments at 183/3, KL Rahul (34*) and Hardik Pandya’s (18) contributions secured the victory in the chase. Ravindra Jadeja finishes off the proceedings in style as he hits a terrific boundary off William O’Rourke as India clinched the title.

For New Zealand, Daryl Mitchell scored 63, assisted by Michael Bracewell’s 53*, helping New Zealand post a competitive total.

Rohit Sharma’s outstanding performance in the final earned him the Player of the Match award, making him the second Indian player to achieve this in Champions Trophy history.

India remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, securing the most titles, surpassing Australia.
