Delhi, 12 April (H.S.): The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, co-leads the Mission Integrated Biorefinery alongside the Netherlands as part of Mission Innovation (MI) 2.0. The Mission Innovation Annual Gathering-2025 took place in Seoul, South Korea, from April 9-11, convening global leaders in clean energy technology.

Mission Innovation, articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at COP21 with former President François Hollande, underscores India’s active participation in clean energy initiatives. At this event, the DBT engaged in discussions promoting collaboration among MI missions, with an emphasis on advancing biorefinery technologies for fuels, chemicals, and materials.

Presenting the BioE3 Policy, the DBT showcased its critical role in confronting climate challenges and fostering a sustainable low-carbon manufacturing ecosystem. Conversations included biomass-based biomanufacturing RD&D and highlighted opportunities for member countries to enhance their decarbonization agendas through innovative bioeconomy strategies.
