India to Deploy Special Aircraft for Stranded Citizens in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, September 10 (HS): India is preparing to deploy special aircraft to evacuate its citizens stranded at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, which has been shut down indefinitely amid ongoing unrest. More than 400 Indian nationals are currently stranded at the airport, prompting urgent coordination between New Delhi and the Nepalese Army.

The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has initiated talks with Nepalese military authorities, seeking clearance for the Indian Air Force to dispatch two aircraft for the evacuation mission. Officials said the government is committed to ensuring the safe return of all its citizens stuck in the Nepalese capital since Tuesday.

The Nepal Army, in an official statement today, appealed to all foreign nationals in the country to immediately reach out to the nearest security agency or deployed personnel for assistance and evacuation. The statement also urged hotels, tour operators, and other relevant stakeholders to cooperate in facilitating coordination and support for foreign visitors in distress.

Authorities emphasized that these measures are aimed at ensuring the safety and timely rescue of all foreign nationals affected by the prevailing conditions in Nepal.
