Chelmsford, July 22(HS): Ekansh Singh’s impressive century helped England reach 309 runs in their first innings during the second youth Test match. The India Under-19 team ended the second day on 51 for one, trailing by 258 runs. Rain disrupted play, leading to only 28.3 overs being bowled.

At stumps, Ayush Mhatre was on 20, and Vihan Malhotra had 6. Singh scored 117 runs off 155 balls, including 14 fours and 3 sixes, contributing to a vital 90-run partnership for the sixth wicket with captain Thomas Rew (59) and a 100-run partnership for the ninth wicket with James Minto (46).

For India, leg-spinner Naman Pushpak claimed four wickets, while Aditya Rawat and RS Ambrish took two each, and Henil Patel and Vihan Malhotra secured one apiece. Opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi contributed 20 runs before rain curtailed the day’s play.
