
New Delhi, April 26 (HS): In March 2025, around 1 crore 45 lakh passengers flew, marking an increase of 8.79 percent from 1 crore 33 lakh in March 2024, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The data indicates that domestic airlines carried 145.42 lakh passengers this March. Indigo led the market with 93.1 lakh passengers, capturing 64 percent of the market share.
The Air India group transported 38.8 lakh passengers, holding 26.7 percent market share. Other airlines like Akasa Air and SpiceJet served 7.2 lakh and 4.8 lakh passengers, respectively, with market shares of 5 percent and 3.3 percent.
In terms of on-time performance (OTP), Indigo maintained 88.1 percent, while Akasa Air followed with 86.9 percent, and Air India Group and SpiceJet recorded 82 percent and 72.1 percent, respectively. These figures pertain to the four major metro airports: Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
