Indian junior men’s hockey team heads to Germany tournament

Bengaluru, June 18 (H.S.): The Indian junior men’s hockey team departed for Berlin, Germany, to participate in a four-nation tournament from June 21 to June 25. Led by captain Araijeet Singh Hundal, the team will face Germany in their first match on June 21, followed by games against Australia and Spain on June 22 and June 24, respectively. The top two teams will advance to the finals, while the bottom two will compete for third place on June 25 at TC 1899 Blau-Weiß.

Hundal highlighted the tournament’s significance as a preparation for the FIH Junior World Cup 2025, emphasizing the opportunity to test strategies and identify weaknesses. Vice-captain Amir Ali stressed the importance of addressing shortcomings before the World Cup, which is set for November 28 to December 10 in Chennai and Madurai. This tournament serves as a critical milestone in the team’s preparations, allowing players to assess and enhance their skills.
