
Paris, August 29(HS): India’s men’s doubles duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty produced a brilliant performance on Thursday to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the BWF World Championships. They defeated the Paris Olympic silver medalists and world No. 6 pair Liang Wei Kang and Wang Chang in a thrilling three-game battle, 19-21, 21-15, 21-17.
Despite trailing 15-17 in the decisive game, the Indian pair rallied impressively, scoring six consecutive points to clinch the match. This victory marks only their third win in nine encounters against the dominant Chinese duo.
In the quarterfinals, Satwik and Chirag will face the world No. 2 Malaysian pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik.
Earlier on Thursday, India’s PV Sindhu and the mixed doubles duo Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila also advanced to the quarterfinal stage, keeping India’s strong presence alive in the tournament
