New Delhi, March 10 (H.S.): Defending champion Iga Swiatek defeated Daryna Yastremska 6-0, 6-2 on Sunday to enter the fourth round of Indian Wells. This was her impressive second consecutive victory; earlier, she defeated Caroline Garcia 6-2, 6-0 in her opening match.

The second-seeded Swiatek is aiming to become the first woman to win this tournament for the third time. The Polish star player delivered a stellar performance in the match, overcoming her Ukrainian opponent in just 65 minutes. She won 10 consecutive games, making the match completely one-sided.

After the match, she said, In the end, I was a little tired; it’s always hard to finish such a match, but I’m happy that I maintained my intensity until the last game. I was in control of the match from the start, so I am satisfied with this performance.

Swiatek, a five-time Grand Slam winner, has not won a title since her victory at Roland Garros in 2024. This marks her longest title drought since winning her first major title in 2020.

In the fourth round, Swiatek will face 15th-seeded Karolína Muchová.
