Dhaka, March 13 (HS): Bangladesh has strongly reacted to India’s recent comments on elections, law and order, and minority issues. Bangladesh believes that these are entirely its internal matters, and therefore, India should not interfere.
According to the Dhaka Tribune, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, made this comment during a media briefing here on Friday in response to a question. Spokesperson Alam stated that such comments from New Delhi are inappropriate. They are akin to interference in another country’s internal matters. Such comments are misleading and a false reflection of reality. He emphasized that Bangladesh firmly believes in the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference in the internal affairs of all countries. Bangladesh is committed to building friendly and constructive relations with India based on mutual respect, trust, and understanding. The spokesperson said Dhaka hopes that relevant officials of the Indian government will take necessary steps to prevent the recurrence of such comments.
During a media briefing in New Delhi, Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had indicated that they support a stable, peaceful, inclusive, and progressive Bangladesh, where all issues are addressed through democratic means and inclusive and participatory elections. He had also expressed concern about the deteriorating law and order situation in Bangladesh in response to a question.
