New Delhi, September 17 (HS): InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of IndiGo Airlines, has appointed former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant as an Additional Director (Non-Executive, Non-Independent) on its Board, effective September 15. The decision follows the mandatory security clearance granted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA).
In a regulatory filing, the company confirmed that it had received the necessary approval from MoCA, enabling Kant’s formal induction onto the Board. His appointment was initially announced by IndiGo on July 3, pending the required security vetting process.
Kant brings with him an extensive background in policy-making, economic planning, and international relations. His vast administrative and strategic expertise, the airline noted, will provide valuable insights to IndiGo as it consolidates its leadership in the Indian aviation market and sharpens its global growth strategy.
A veteran bureaucrat, Amitabh Kant is widely credited for his role in shaping India’s economic reforms, steering policy think-tank NITI Aayog as its CEO, and spearheading key initiatives in infrastructure, investment, and innovation.
