
New Delhi, May 21 (HS): The budget airline IndiGo will begin its direct flights from Mumbai to Manchester and Amsterdam in July using leased Boeing 787-9 aircraft. With the launch of flight services to this British city, the airline will also commence its long-haul flights.
IndiGo stated in a release on Wednesday that it is expanding its network along with international connectivity. The Mumbai-Manchester (UK) flight will start on July 1, and the Mumbai-Amsterdam (Netherlands) service will commence on July 2. Both services will operate three times a week, and passengers on these routes will be provided free hot meals. IndiGo mentioned that it will be the only airline providing direct connectivity between India and Northern UK with the Manchester flight.
The airline’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Elbers said that the launch of long-haul flights marks an important moment in its journey of global expansion. He expressed pride and excitement in commencing sales for its first long-haul service connecting Mumbai to Manchester, which is a very special route in many ways.
Notably, budget airline IndiGo currently operates over 2,200 daily flights connecting more than 90 domestic and over 40 international destinations with a fleet of more than 400 aircraft.
