
Delhi, 5 April (H.S.): The Indian Navy Offshore Patrol Vessel (NOPV) INS Sunayna will depart from Karwar under the Indian Ocean Ship SAGAR (Security & Growth for All in the Region) program. Flagged off by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on April 5, 2025, this mission features 44 naval personnel from nine Friendly Foreign Nations (FFNs) and aims to strengthen India’s commitment to regional maritime security and international cooperation. IOS SAGAR unites navies and maritime agencies of the Southwest Indian Ocean Region on an Indian Naval platform, providing comprehensive training for sea-riders from FFNs.
During its deployment, INS Sunayna will visit Dar-es-Salaam, Nacala, Port Louis, and Port Victoria, engaging in various training exercises, including firefighting, damage control, and board operations. This mission enhances interoperability between the Indian Navy and its international partners, reaffirming India’s dedication to fostering stronger ties and promoting a secure maritime environment in the IOR.
