Lucknow, April 23 (H.S.) : In the 40th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 played at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, Delhi Capitals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 8 wickets, aided by half-centuries from KL Rahul and Abhishek Porel.
Lucknow scored 159 runs for 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to a half-century from Aiden Markram. In response, Delhi chased down the target, making 161 runs for 2 wickets in 17.5 overs. Rahul scored an unbeaten 57 runs off 42 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes, while Porel contributed with 51 runs off 36 balls, including five fours and one six. Captain Axar Patel played a strong innings, scoring 34 runs off 20 balls, while Kurun Nair could only manage 15 runs.
Both successes for Lucknow Super Giants came from Aiden Markram.
Earlier, while batting, Lucknow scored 159 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. For Lucknow, Aiden Markram scored 52 runs and Mitch Marsh contributed 45 runs. Additionally, Ayush Badoni scored 36 runs and David Miller added 14 runs. No other batsman was able to reach double digits, while captain Rishabh Pant once again failed with the bat, returning to the pavilion without scoring.
From Delhi Capitals, Mukesh Kumar was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets, while Dushmantha Chameera and Mitchell Starc took one wicket each.
