
Mumbai, April 21 (H.S.): In an exciting match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Mumbai Indians completed their hat-trick of wins by defeating Chennai Super Kings by 9 wickets. The match, played at Wankhede Stadium, saw a fantastic partnership between Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, leaving Chennai no chance for a comeback.
After losing the toss and batting first, Chennai Super Kings scored 176 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Shivam Dube played a useful innings of 50 runs off 32 balls, while Ravindra Jadeja anchored the innings with an unbeaten 53 runs off 35 balls. The young 17-year-old batsman Ayush Mhatre also contributed with 32 runs off 15 balls, helping the team reach a respectable score. For Mumbai, Jasprit Bumrah took 2 wickets, while Deepak Chahar, Ashwin Kumar, and Mitchell Santner each claimed one wicket.
Mumbai Indians had a strong start in their chase. Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma added 63 runs for the first wicket. Rickelton was dismissed for 24 runs off 19 balls, which was Chennai’s only breakthrough, taken by Ravindra Jadeja. After that, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav took control of the match. Rohit completed his half-century in 33 balls, scoring an unbeaten 76 runs, while Suryakumar Yadav hit a fifty in just 26 balls and returned not out with 68 runs. Both batsmen did not allow Chennai bowlers to gain any control. In the 16th over, both hit three sixes off Matheesha Pathirana to finish the match.
Mumbai Indians scored 177 runs for the loss of just one wicket in 15.4 overs, claiming the match and avenging their previous defeat at Chepauk against Chennai.
