Bengaluru Beat Rajasthan by Nine Wickets

Jaipur, April 14 (HS): The 28th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season was played on Sunday between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). In the match held at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, RCB defeated RR by nine wickets.

After winning the toss, RCB opted to bowl first. Rajasthan batted first and scored 173 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. In response, RCB chased down the target, scoring 175 runs for the loss of just one wicket in 17.3 overs, securing a victory by nine wickets. With this win, Bengaluru’s team moved up to third place in the points table. The team has 8 points from 6 matches, with 4 wins and 2 losses. Meanwhile, Rajasthan’s team is in seventh place with 4 points from 6 matches, having won 2 and lost 4.

Chasing a target of 174 runs, RCB got off to a quick start. Opening batsman Phil Salt batted aggressively and, along with Virat Kohli, added 65 runs during the powerplay’s six overs. Salt completed his half-century in 28 balls. However, he was eventually out after playing a sensational innings of 65 runs off 33 balls, hitting five fours and six sixes. Following this, Kohli also played brilliantly, scoring his third half-century of the season. This was Kohli’s 100th fifty in T20 cricket. Along with Devdutt Padikkal, he led the team to a convincing victory by nine wickets. Kohli remained unbeaten on 62 runs off 45 balls, aided by four fours and two sixes, while impact player Devdutt Padikkal scored an unbeaten 40 runs off 28 balls, hitting five fours and one six.

Kumar Kartikeya took the only wicket for Rajasthan.

Earlier, while batting, Rajasthan Royals scored 173 runs at the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. The team’s start was a bit slow. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Sanju Samson added 45 runs without losing a wicket during the powerplay. Both were building a partnership, but Rajasthan suffered their first blow in the form of Samson. Samson was out after scoring 15 runs off 19 balls. Yashasvi carried the innings forward with Riyan Parag, pushing the team’s score past 100. Later, Riyan was out after scoring 30 runs off 22 balls with the help of three fours and one six. The team faced a major setback at a score of 126. Yashasvi returned to the pavilion after scoring 75 runs off 47 balls, with the help of 10 fours and 2 sixes. Shimron Hetmyer could not play a big innings in the match, getting out for nine runs. In the end, Dhruv Jurel hit some big shots to take the team’s score to 173. Jurel remained not out at 35 runs off 23 balls, including two fours and two sixes, while Nitish Rana scored four runs off one ball and remained not out.

For RCB, Bhuvneshwar, Yash Dayal, Josh Hazlewood, and Krunal Pandya each took one wicket.
