IPL 2025: Suryakumar Yadav secures Orange Cap, surpasses Kohli, Sudharsan

New Delhi, May 2 (HS): Mumbai Indians batsman Suryakumar Yadav has secured the Orange Cap in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, surpassing Virat Kohli and Sai Sudharsan on Thursday.

Suryakumar Yadav scored an unbeaten 48 runs off 23 balls against Rajasthan Royals on Thursday, bringing his total runs this season to 475. As a result, he has taken the first position in the race for the Orange Cap, leaving Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli (443 runs) and Gujarat Titans’ Sai Sudharsan (456 runs) behind. Notably, Suryakumar has played 11 matches, while Sudharsan has played 9 and Kohli has played 10 matches to achieve these runs.

Rajasthan Royals’ Yashasvi Jaiswal scored only 11 runs in this match and remains in fourth place with a total of 439 runs. GT’s Jos Buttler (406 runs) and Lucknow Super Giants’ Nicholas Pooran (404 runs) are also among the players who have crossed the 400-run mark.

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Josh Hazlewood is at the top of the Purple Cap list with 18 wickets, while Gujarat Titans’ Prasidh Krishna follows in second place with 17 wickets.

Mumbai Indians’ fast bowler Trent Boult took three wickets on Thursday and moved to third place in the Purple Cap standings with a total of 16 wickets in 11 matches. Right below him is Chennai Super Kings’ Noor Ahmad, who has 15 wickets in 10 matches.
