
Nagpur, 15 Apr: The
Indian Society of Criminology Nagpur Branch discussed various issues related to
increasing crime involving children, their deviant behaviour, and misuse by the
anti-social elements. During the Annual General Body meeting of the Society,
generating awareness about the issues was emphasised.
Renowned
paediatrician Dr Uday Bodhankar chaired the meeting. Daily newspaper Bhaskar’s
Group Editor Prakash Dube was the guest of honour.
Deviant
behaviour of children is a major concern for the entire society. The causes have
various dimensions. Dr Bodhankar suggested that a discussion with social
organizations can be held to generate awareness about the issues. The
organisation of paediatricians is also working on these issues. Social workers,
journalists and health groups can work on it. The members of the ISC are mostly
social work educators, medical practitioners, lawyers and journalists.
The society elected
its new body for 2025-2027.Dr Bodhankar
was retained as its Patron. The other office bearers elected are – Dr Keshav
Walke, and Anand Nirban – Vice-presidents, Dr Nandkishor Bhagat – Secretary, Adv
Anand Deshpande – Joint Secretary, Ramesh Mehta – Treasurer, and Council
members – Ajay Mardikar, Raje Mudhoji Bhonsale, Jogendra Thakur, Shekhar Oande,
Malviya.
