J&K Police recover large quantity of contraband in Shopian; one arrested





Srinagar, Jan 09 (KINS): In its continued crackdown against the drug menace, J&K Police in Shopian recovered a significant quantity of contraband substance from a residential house in Barbugh, Imamsahib, and arrested one person.

Acting on specific information, Police Station Imamsahib registered FIR No. 02/2026 under the NDPS Act and obtained a search warrant from the competent authority. A police team from PS Imamsahib, accompanied by the Tehsildar Barbugh, conducted a raid at the residential premises of Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday, a resident of Barbugh.

During the search, police recovered 20.720 kilograms of cannabis and 130 grams of charas-like substance from the house. The accused was arrested on the spot, and further investigation is underway.

J&K Police reiterated their commitment to eradicating the drug menace from society and urged the public to extend cooperation.
