New Delhi, April 21 (HS): The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra will begin on June 30 after a gap of five years. The journey will be organized by the Uttarakhand government and the Ministry of External Affairs. A meeting was held on Monday in New Delhi at the Ministry of External Affairs regarding the successful conduct of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2025.

It was decided in the meeting that the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2025 will be conducted by the Kumaon Mandal Vikash Nigam. The journey will start from Delhi and will be operated via the Lipulekh Pass route in Pithoragarh. The Yatra will commence on June 30, with a total of 5 groups of 50 individuals each (a total of 250 individuals) participating.

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, which is held annually from the Lipulekh Pass in Pithoragarh, could not be conducted since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and deteriorating relations with China. Since the normalization of relations with China, the Ministry of External Affairs has been in discussions with the Chinese government regarding the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. The Ministry of External Affairs had recently announced that the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra will take place this year.

The first group of pilgrims will enter China via the Lipulekh Pass on July 10, and the last group will depart from China to India on August 22. Each group will depart from Delhi and will stay for one night in Tanakpur, one night in Dharchula, two nights in Gunji, and two nights in Nabhidhang before entering China (Taklakot). After visiting Kailash, they will return to India, departing from China and spending one night in Bundi, one night in Chaukori, and one night in Almora before reaching Delhi. Thus, each group will undertake a total journey of 22 days.

The health of all pilgrims will be initially tested in Delhi, and upon reaching Gunji (Pithoragarh), health checks will be conducted with the assistance of ITBP.
