
New Delhi, May 31 (H.S.): Karun Nair, experienced batsman of India A, scored an unbeaten 186 on the first day of the unofficial Test against England Lions, bolstering his chances for the upcoming Test series. India A faced an early setback with captain Abhimanyu Easwaran dismissed for 8 runs.
Nair came to bat in the sixth over, quickly showcasing his aggressive style with an early boundary. Partnering briefly with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 24 runs, Nair then excelled alongside Sarfaraz Khan, forming a vital partnership worth 181 runs. Sarfaraz managed 92 runs before getting out, but Nair continued building the innings with Dhruv Jurel. Together, they did not lose any further wickets over the next 34 overs, applying significant pressure on the England bowling unit. By the end of the day’s play, Nair remains not out on 186 runs, inching towards a double century, while Jurel contributed an impressive 82 runs. India A concluded the first day at 409 for 3 wickets.
