Kathmandu, August 29(HS): The Kathmandu Airport Authority has refuted claims that three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists infiltrated Bihar via Nepal. The Nepal Police and Immigration Department disclosed that the three alleged terrorists had departed from Kathmandu at different times heading to Malaysia.
Bihar Police had earlier shared photos, names, and passport details of the three terrorists, asserting they entered Bihar’s Champaran border through Birgunj after arriving from Pakistan to Kathmandu. However, investigations revealed that before Bihar Police went public, the three had already taken flights from Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur at different times—a fact confirmed by Nepal Police, Immigration, and Kathmandu Airport authorities.
Nepal Immigration spokesperson Tikaram Dhakal detailed that according to immigration records, Hasanain Ali Awan from Rawalpindi (passport no. CT16606551) and Adil Hussain from Umerkot (passport no. YH69152815) arrived in Kathmandu on August 8 via Dubai on Fly Dubai flight FZ 575 at 6:25 PM. Two days later, another terrorist linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Mohammad Usman from Bahawalpur, arrived from Karachi via Dubai on Fly Dubai flight FZ 573, landing at 11:20 PM with immigration recorded at 11:58 PM.
Contrary to Bihar Police claims, Nepal’s Immigration Department clarified that all three entered Nepal on tourist visas and subsequently left Kathmandu separately. Hasanain Ali and Adil Hussain flew to Kuala Lumpur on Malaysian Airlines flight MH 115 at 10:45 PM on August 15, while Mohammad Usman left via Nepal Airlines flight RA 415 at 9:35 PM on August 24.
Dhakal noted that neither Indian authorities nor Interpol had issued any alerts, so their passports were not blacklisted in Nepal. Had there been such information, the terrorists could have been detained upon entry.
Currently, Nepal Police are investigating the individuals the three terrorists met during their stay. CCTV footage from the airport and other locations is under review. Nepal Police remain unaware if the three traveled to Bihar during their stay and have received no official information from Indian security agencies regarding this matter.
