Kathmandu Reinstates Two-Month Ban on Protests in Key Zones

Kathmandu, 18 October (H.S.): The Kathmandu District Administration has once again issued prohibitory orders in several sensitive areas across the capital, banning all public demonstrations for a period of two months. The restrictions, which came into effect on Saturday, will remain in place until December 18.

According to a formal notice from Chief District Officer Ishwar Raj Poudel, the order is aimed at maintaining law and order in key locations. The directive strictly prohibits any political party, organization, group, or individual from holding assemblies, conferences, sit-ins, processions, rallies, or shouting slogans within the designated zones.

The administration has identified five key areas where the ban will be enforced:

The vicinity of the President’s Office, including surrounding roads and the nearby police training center.

The area around the Vice President’s Office, extending to the nearby Indian Embassy.

The Prime Minister’s residence and its immediate surroundings.

The entire Singha Durbar administrative complex, which includes the Supreme Court, the Attorney General’s Office, and the Army and Police headquarters.

The area surrounding the Narayanhiti Palace Museum.
