New Delhi, April 16 (HS): Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has strongly criticized the BJP-led central government, accusing it of targeting the Congress to divert attention from its failures. This comes in light of the Enforcement Directorate’s prosecution complaint against Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and others in the National Herald money laundering case.

In an X post, Kharge expressed that the economic mismanagement by the BJP government is worsening, with no vision or solutions offered—only distractions. He highlighted five critical failures of the government, including a three-year high trade deficit and a lack of coherent strategies for tariff and trade wars, resulting in empty promises and ineffective tours.

Additionally, he referenced a Reserve Bank of India survey from March 2025, revealing that 90% of consumers noticed rising commodity prices, leading over 80% to increase their spending without any corresponding rise in income. FMCG revenue growth has fallen to a mere 5% in FY25. Kharge criticized the government’s collection of ₹39 lakh crore in taxes and fees, particularly noting the adverse effects of a ₹50 increase in LPG prices on the economically weaker sections. He also pointed out the rising unemployment rates, with graduates at 13% and youth at 10.2%. Finally, he lamented a drastic decline in FDI, asserting that the people will hold the BJP accountable for these failures and pledging to continue voicing opposition against the government.
