
Gulmarg, 12 March (H.S.): On the penultimate day of the Khelo India Winter Games 2025 in Gulmarg, the Indian Army showcased its dominance by securing four medals, solidifying its lead in the standings.
Rifleman Rajeshwar Singh shone brightly, winning his second gold medal in ski mountaineering on March 11, 2025. The Army’s ski mountaineering men’s relay team, comprising Narsingh Thapa, Rajeshwar Singh, Sunil Rai, and Vishal Chandal, secured gold with a time of 49:58.1, followed by Uttarakhand in second and Himachal Pradesh taking bronze. In Nordic skiing, the Indian Army excelled in the men’s 15km event, sweeping the podium with Sunny Singh claiming gold (41:04.54), Stanzin silver (41:20.70), and Thupstan bronze (41:51.38).
Himachal Pradesh delivered a standout performance, achieving a clean sweep in the alpine skiing women’s slalom, with Anchal Thakur winning gold and Tanuja Thakur and Promila Thakur taking silver and bronze.
Additionally, ITBP women dominated the Nordic skiing women’s sprint, with Kusum Rana capturing her second gold.
The Indian Army leads the medal tally with seven golds, closely followed by Himachal Pradesh, which rose to second place. The final day’s events will feature the women’s ski mountaineering relay.
