Khyber Cement unveils 2026 calendar highlighting Kashmir’s rich architectural heritage

Srinagar, Dec 26 (KINS): Continuing its much-valued annual tradition, Khyber Cement has officially unveiled its 2026 calendar, once again going beyond business to celebrate the cultural and historical soul of Kashmir. This year’s calendar is themed “Kashmir’s Capital Architecture” and presents a visual journey through the Valley’s long and fascinating architectural history.
The calendar highlights how Kashmir’s architecture has evolved over centuries, starting from ancient times to the modern era. It captures the transformation of the region through strong stone structures of antiquity, grand imperial buildings, and later civic complexes that emerged in the 20th century. Through photographs and narratives, the calendar reflects how history, power, faith, and creativity together shaped the landscape of Kashmir.
The 2026 calendar is designed as twelve carefully curated chapters, with each month telling the story of a different phase in Kashmir’s past. It traces the rise and fall of various capitals that once held political and cultural importance in the Valley. These include Pandrethan, where sacred stone architecture marked the Valley’s early political life during the time of Emperor Ashoka, the grand stone structures of Parihaspora that symbolised imperial power, and the unique seven-storey wooden architecture of Nowshera, showcasing traditional craftsmanship and innovation.
Speaking on the occasion, Umar Tramboo, Director Corporate & Strategy at Khyber Cement, said that the calendar reflects the company’s belief in celebrating the region beyond commercial interests. He said the initiative shows how deeply the brand is connected to the land and culture of Kashmir, adding that real progress can only be achieved when development is rooted in respect for history and heritage.
Over the years, Khyber Cement’s annual calendar has become an eagerly awaited cultural initiative. It is seen not just as a calendar, but as a storytelling platform that brings Kashmir’s identity, history, and legacy to the forefront. Manzoor Ahmad Mir, Head of Commercials, Legal & Regulatory Affairs at Khyber Cement, said that Kashmir’s architectural history is like a story written into its landscape, and the calendar aims to preserve and share that story with future generations.
The theme of the calendar strongly aligns with Khyber Cement’s core philosophy of “Dil se banao,” which reflects building with sincerity, responsibility, and emotional connection to the region.
The calendar launch event was attended by several dignitaries and senior officials from the Industries Department. Among them was Hameeda Akhtar (JKAS), General Manager, District Industries Centre, Srinagar, who appreciated the initiative and praised Khyber Cement for its efforts to preserve and promote the memory and heritage of Kashmir.
Khyber Cement continues to be the market leader in Jammu and Kashmir, known for setting high standards in quality, reliability, and responsibility. The company’s role goes far beyond cement manufacturing. It has consistently contributed to sustainable development and has remained actively involved in community welfare over the years.
Through its support for sports, culture, education, and heritage initiatives, Khyber Cement has demonstrated leadership through action rather than words. Each initiative reflects the company’s long-term vision of building not only strong structures, but also a strong connection with the people and culture of the region. With its 2026 calendar, Khyber Cement once again reinforces its commitment to honouring Kashmir’s past while helping build for generations to come.(KINS)
