Kohli re-enters top five of ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings;Gill remains top

New Delhi, March 05 (HS): Indian cricket team’s star batsman Virat Kohli has secured fourth place in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings. Kohli played a brilliant innings of 84 runs against Australia in the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy 2025, due to which he overtook Indian captain Rohit Sharma to achieve this position.

Rohit has slipped one place to fifth, while his opening partner Shubman Gill remains at the top position.

Australian captain Steve Smith, who announced his retirement from ODI cricket after the semi-final defeat against India, has also jumped six places to 16th position.

Afghanistan’s rising star Azmatullah Omarzai has secured the top spot in the ICC ODI all-rounder rankings. He achieved this position by overtaking his compatriot Mohammad Nabi.

25-year-old Omarzai performed brilliantly in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which included a five-wicket haul against England and a half-century against Australia. He scored a total of 126 runs, which also helped him jump 12 places in the batsmen’s rankings and now he has come to 24th position (598 rating points).

India’s Axar Patel also made a big jump in the all-rounder rankings, climbing 17 places and now reaching 13th position (194 rating points), which is the best ranking of his career.

Change in bowlers’ rankings

New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry got the reward for his excellent performance in the Champions Trophy and he moved up three places to third position (649 rating points). In the bowlers’ rankings, Sri Lanka’s Mahish Teekshna is at the first position and South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj is at the second position.

India’s experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami also jumped three places due to his excellent bowling in the Champions Trophy and has now reached 11th position.

Apart from this, South Africa’s Marco Jansen has moved up nine places to 18th position, while England fast bowler Jofra Archer has jumped 13 places to 19th position. He shares the ranking with England teammate Adil Rashid and Australia’s Mitchell Starc.
