Kathmandu, April 28 (HS): Former Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister Ravi Lamichhane, currently in jail, faces intensified legal troubles with the emergence of a new co-operative bank scam. A lawsuit was filed following the revelation of irregularities exceeding 1.12 billion Nepali rupees at the Paila Co-operative Bank in Birgunj.

The government has lodged a case against 30 individuals, including Lamichhane, in the Parsa District Court, where a charge sheet has been submitted. Birgunj’s City SP Gautam Mishra announced that the charge sheet outlines evidence of these financial irregularities. This marks the fifth case against Lamichhane, who is already entangled in scams in four districts, and he has appealed for bail in the Supreme Court.
