
New Delhi, May 23 (H.S.): Luka Modric, considered one of the best midfielders in the world of football, is set to say goodbye to Real Madrid soon.
One of the club’s most successful players, Modric confirmed on Thursday that he will leave the club after the Club World Cup. The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner has been with the club since 2012 and has played nearly 600 matches for Real Madrid.
The 39-year-old Croatian midfielder’s last home match will be the final La Liga game against Real Sociedad on Saturday. After that, he will be part of the team in the Club World Cup starting in June, and then he will bid farewell.

In his Instagram post, Modric wrote, The moment has come that I never wanted. But in football and life, everything has a beginning and an end. I will play my last match at Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday.
He further wrote, Playing for Real Madrid has been a life-changing experience for me. I am proud to be part of the most successful generation of this club. Even if I don’t step on the field in this jersey after the Club World Cup, I will always be a ‘Madridista’ at heart.
