Madhya Pradesh Cabinet to reward road accident rescuers with ₹25,000

The meeting of the council of ministers at the historic Rajwada in Indore.

Indore, May 20 (H.S.): In Madhya Pradesh, a new initiative under the Rah-veer Scheme will reward individuals who transport injured persons from road accidents to hospitals with ₹25,000. This decision followed a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav at Rajwada in Indore, where Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya shared details, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Bhopal on May 31 for a conference of two lakh women. During this visit, the PM will inaugurate the Indore Metro and airports in Datia and Satna, and support industrial sectors aimed at female workers.

Significantly, this cabinet meeting was the first held at Ganesh Hall, commemorating the 300th birth anniversary of Lokamata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar and marking a historical moment in Indore. In a display of respect, floral tributes were paid to Holkar, and a statue was placed prominently in the hall. Unlike other ministers, Minister Vijay Shah was absent due to ongoing investigations related to a controversial statement.

The meeting underscored a commitment to women’s empowerment and the welfare of cross-sections of society, expressed through planned residential facilities for women in industries. Additionally, a refreshed Chief Minister’s Urban Cleanliness Program with a funding provision of ₹277 crores was announced, with expectations for increased support.

A proposal to establish a metropolitan development authority for major cities, including Indore, Bhopal, and Ujjain, was approved, aimed at addressing future water and transport needs. A gathering for farmers is slated for May 26-28 in Narsinghpur, focusing on agriculture-based industries and organic farming education. The state has set the Minimum Support Price (MSP) between ₹2400-2500, purchasing wheat at ₹2600 per quintal, resulting in payments to farmers totaling ₹20,000 crores, enhancing their financial security.
