Maharashtra and Gujarat have accelerated the country's development through healthy competition: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing a gathering on the occasion of the foundation day of Gujarat and Maharashtra in New Delhi on Thursday, stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has provided a formula for the country's development through healthy competition among the states, which both states have embraced. In his address, Union Minister Shah referenced the decision to bifurcate Bombay State into two separate states, Gujarat and Maharashtra, under the Bombay Reorganization Act on May 1, 1960. He mentioned that this decision exemplifies how two parts of a state can contribute to the overall development of the country while respecting each other through healthy competition without any bitterness. He noted that this day is celebrated in all Raj Bhavans across the country and serves as a strong example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of One India, Great India. Shah stated that there is no competition between the Gujarati and Marathi languages. Both languages are great in their own right, and their literature is no less rich than that of any other language in the world. He highlighted that both languages play a significant role in strengthening the cultural heritage of the country. Furthermore, both states have embraced modernity while preserving their traditions and have made substantial contributions to strengthening the unity and integrity of the nation. Union Minister Shah shared his connection to both Gujarat and Maharashtra, mentioning that he was born and married in Maharashtra and that Gujarat has become his place of work. The Union Minister said that due to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, we are celebrating the Foundation Day ceremonies of Gujarat and Maharashtra in a simple manner. He also paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Appreciating the efforts of the Lieutenant Governor to make the capital clean and beautiful, the Home Minister mentioned that he had attended a program by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar at the banks of the Yamuna, at Kalindi Ghat, long ago. At that time, there was a lot of garbage and filth present. Today, seeing the change in situation, it appears that Delhi is transforming. He stated that recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated rapid actions aimed at purifying and sanctifying the water in the regions along the Yamuna River from Yamunotri to Prayagraj, and to develop a riverfront in Delhi similar to the Sabarmati River Front. He emphasized that the BJP governments are fully committed to completing this entire plan in a timely manner. The purification of the Yamuna is extremely important not only for the people of Delhi but also for all those who live in the bordering states and hold reverence for Lord Krishna and the Yamuna. Many were present at the event, including Delhi's Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, Supreme Court Justice Prasanna Varale, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta and a large number of residents of Gujarat and Maharashtra living in Delhi.
