Amravati, 08 Apr (HS):- With the reduction in yield
of fresh Mahua flowers, the market for the dried Mahua flowers has strengthened.
Those who had stored dried Mahua are getting good returns on their produce.
On the one hand, the tribals who collect fresh Mahua
flowers and sell them immediately are facing problems due to low yield during
the last two years, and on the other a few who store the dried flowers in an
airtight bag are getting a good return. The dried Mahua flowers are being sold
at Rs 500 to Rs 600 per kilogramme in Melghat, the tribal-dominated region of
Amravati district.
The season lasts for about one-and-a-half months.
The climatic changes has affected the yield for the past two years. With the reduction in the yield, the market price for the dried flowers has increased.
