Malaysia Masters Badminton Tournament 2025: Prannoy, Karunakaran, Srikanth advance; Sindhu eliminated

New Delhi, May 21 (H.S.): In the Malaysia Masters Badminton Tournament 2025, India’s H.S. Prannoy and Satish Karunakaran achieved impressive victories, securing spots in the second round of men’s singles. However, two-time Olympic medalist P.V. Sindhu’s journey ended in the first round.

Prannoy started the day by defeating Japan’s fifth-seeded Kenta Nishimoto in a tough match, with scores of 19-21, 21-17, 21-16. The match lasted for one hour and 22 minutes. Following him, Satish Karunakaran caused a major upset by eliminating Taiwan’s third-seeded Chou Tien Chen in just 39 minutes, winning with scores of 21-13, 21-14.

It was a fantastic day for the men’s players, as India’s young player Ayush Shetty also advanced to the next round by defeating Brian Yang (Canada) with scores of 20-22, 21-10, 21-8.

Meanwhile, P.V. Sindhu continued to struggle in women’s singles. She was knocked out in the first round of this Super 500 category tournament after losing to Vietnam’s Nguyen Thuy Linh with scores of 11-21, 21-14, 15-21.
