Kolkata, February 25 (H.S.) : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called a crucial meeting of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on February 27 to strategize for the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections. The meeting, which will be held at Kolkata’s Netaji Indoor Stadium, is expected to bring major organizational changes and shape the party’s electoral roadmap.

Senior leaders, including TMC MPs, MLAs, and district presidents, will attend the meeting. According to party sources, this meeting was initially scheduled for 2024 but was postponed. With the 2026 elections approaching, Mamata Banerjee is now focusing on restructuring the party and strengthening its base.

Ahead of this crucial meeting, Mamata Banerjee held detailed discussions with TMC’s National General Secretary and her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, on Sunday. A senior party leader indicated that key decisions regarding organizational restructuring are likely to be announced, with a strong possibility of dropping underperforming leaders from the candidate list for the next elections.

Mamata Banerjee has been urging party leaders to maintain direct contact with the public and has made it clear that negligence will not be tolerated. The upcoming meeting will include a performance review of MLAs and ministers. Party insiders suggest that those failing to meet expectations may not receive tickets for the 2026 elections. Having ruled the state for 15 years, Mamata Banerjee aims to present a fresh and dynamic team to the electorate.

The Chief Minister is also expected to discuss alleged irregularities in the voter list. She recently claimed that ‘fake voters’ were being added, particularly in South 24 Parganas district. It is anticipated that she will instruct party leaders to closely monitor the electoral rolls and take necessary corrective measures.

This high-stakes meeting is set to lay the foundation for TMC’s 2026 election campaign. Determined to secure a fourth term as Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee is preparing to step into the battlefield with a revamped and stronger party structure. With significant decisions on the horizon, this meeting could prove to be a turning point for TMC’s political strategy.
