Manohar Lal embarks on an official visit to Brazil to attend BRICS Energy Ministers Meeting on May 19

New Delhi, May 17 (H.S): Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal has departed on an official visit to Brazil to participate in the BRICS Energy Ministers meeting scheduled for May 19. During the meeting, India will showcase its achievements in the energy sector over the past decade.

The Ministry of Energy stated in a release on Saturday that Minister Manohar Lal will discuss crucial issues such as energy security, accessibility, affordability, and sustainability with energy ministers from BRICS countries under the theme Empowering Global South Cooperation for Inclusive and Sustainable Global Governance. India will highlight its achievements from the last decade, including a 90% increase in electricity capacity, leadership in renewable energy, green hydrogen, and biofuels, as well as innovation and sustainable development in the energy sector. Additionally, the country will reaffirm its commitment to ensuring equal access to energy and accelerating energy transitions. The statement mentioned that Minister Manohar Lal’s visit underscores India’s strong resolve to actively collaborate with BRICS nations in building a robust, forward-looking, and sustainable energy sector.
