London, Aug 23 (HS): Former World No. 1 Maria Sharapova and legendary doubles pair Bob and Mike Bryan have been officially inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, marking a historic recognition of their remarkable careers.

Sharapova, one of only 10 women to achieve a career Grand Slam, first rose to global stardom by winning Wimbledon in 2004. She went on to capture the US Open crown in 2006, the Australian Open in 2008, and lifted the French Open trophy twice in 2012 and 2014. The Russian star also became the first from her country to reach the top of the WTA rankings and claimed an Olympic silver medal at the 2012 London Games. She announced her retirement in 2020 at the age of 32.

On the doubles circuit, the Bryan brothers rewrote history as the most successful men’s team, amassing 16 Grand Slam titles and holding the No. 1 ranking for a record 438 weeks. Their golden run also included an Olympic gold medal at London 2012 and playing a pivotal role in guiding the United States to the 2007 Davis Cup title.

Ahead of the ceremony, Sharapova reflected on her journey, saying, “This path was filled with hard work and sacrifice, but it was worth every moment.” The Bryan brothers, too, called the honor a deeply humbling experience: “To see our career milestones immortalized in the Hall of Fame is a matter of immense pride.”
