New Delhi, September 08 (HS): The easing tone of US President Donald Trump on India–US relations clearly reflected in the mood of the Indian equity market during Monday’s early trade. Both Sensex and Nifty opened on a strong note and maintained upward momentum despite profit booking pressure after the first half hour of trade. By 10 AM, both indices were trading firmly in the green, with Sensex up 0.27 percent and Nifty higher by 0.29 percent.

At 10 AM, heavyweight stocks like Tata Steel, Tata Motors, NTPC, Hindalco Industries, and State Bank of India were trading with gains ranging from 0.63 percent to 2.67 percent. On the other hand, SBI Life Insurance, Asian Paints, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Titan Company, and Trent Limited showed declines between 0.03 percent and 1.01 percent.

In overall market action, 2,216 stocks were actively traded on the exchanges. Of these, 1,758 shares advanced into green territory, while 458 stocks slipped into the red. Within Sensex components, 18 stocks were trading with gains driven by buying support, while 12 were under selling pressure. Similarly, in the Nifty pack of 50, 31 stocks advanced and 19 declined.

On the BSE, the Sensex opened 193.64 points higher at 80,904.40 and quickly surged to 81,048.67 on strong buying interest. However, profit-taking dragged it down to 80,786.71 before renewed buying pushed it back up. By 10 AM, Sensex was trading 216.45 points higher at 80,927.21.

Mirroring this trend, NSE’s Nifty opened 61.60 points higher at 24,802.60, touched 24,845.70 in early trade, and later dipped to 24,758.50 under selling pressure. However, renewed buying lifted it again, and by 10 AM Nifty stood firm with a 70.55-point gain at 24,811.55.

In the previous trading session on Friday, Sensex had closed marginally lower by 7.25 points, or 0.009 percent, at 80,710.76, while Nifty ended with a modest gain of 6.70 points, or 0.27 percent, at 24,741.
