Mehbooba Mufti targets Omar Abdullah, accuses him of ‘ignoring public issues’
Srinagar, Jan 07 (KINS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday criticised Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for remaining silent on key public issues, alleging that he is more focused on attacking the PDP than addressing people’s concerns.
Speaking briefly at the 10th death anniversary of her father and PDP founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mehbooba as per news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) said youths are being arrested for raising their voices and thousands remain lodged in jails, while the government fails to speak up for them.
She also raised concern over the acquisition of orchard land for railway projects in south Kashmir, saying the chief minister does not understand the importance of orchards for poor families. Mehbooba urged the Centre to provide jobs to youths from families whose land is being taken.
Calling the PDP her father’s legacy, she appealed to party workers to protect and carry it forward. She broke down while asking workers to pray for Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Mehbooba said her father possessed unmatched farsightedness and always prioritised people over power, adding that unlike others who sought positions, Mufti Sayeed worked for the nation and the people.(KINS)
