Srinagar- The weather department on Thursday forecast light snow at scattered locations across Jammu and Kashmir till January 21, followed by a wet spell between January 22 and 24, even as minimum temperatures showed a slight rise at most places compared to the previous day.
According to the forecast, there will be no significant weather activity over the next few days, although light snowfall is likely at isolated places during January 16 and again on January 19 and 20. From January 22 onwards, light to moderate rain or snow is expected at most places across the Union Territory.
The department also indicated the possibility of moderate to heavy rain or snowfall over a few districts of the Chenab valley and south Kashmir during January 23 and 24.
An advisory has been issued warning of moderate to dense fog over the plains of the Jammu division for the next two days. Travellers have been advised to plan their movement carefully and follow traffic and administrative advisories in view of the expected weather conditions.
Meanwhile, minimum temperatures across the Kashmir Valley and the Jammu region recorded a marginal rise on Thursday, offering brief relief from the prevailing cold wave conditions. In Ladakh, however, night temperatures continued to remain significantly below freezing at several locations.
The weather department said it would continue to monitor the situation and issue further updates as required.
