The incident occurred while the secretary was returning to the U.S. following a NATO defense ministers’ meeting in Brussels.Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed the event, stating that the unscheduled landing was a precautionary measure.

The plane landed based on standard procedures and everyone onboard, including Secretary Hegseth, is safe, Parnell announced on social media. The specific airport in Britain was not disclosed.

Secretary Hegseth also addressed the incident, posting a brief message in reply: All good. Thank God. Continue mission!The emergency landing interrupted Secretary Hegseth’s return from the NATO summit, where he had urged member countries to increase their military contributions to support Ukraine in its conflict against Russia.
