Sindhudurg, 13 Mar (HS):- New Mineral oil stock has

been detected in the deep sea near Malwan Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. The

oil stock is said to be spread over 19,131.72 sq km. Besides oil stocks have also

been detected in Palghar district’s marine territory. Oil extraction is likely

to begin soon through oil companies.

In about 5338 SqKm area near Dahanu in the Palghar district

oil stocks were detected. The site is about 86 nautical miles from the sea

coast.

The search for the oil was in progress for several

years after detecting oil at Bombay High in 1974. Mineral oil is being

extracted here. With the detection of new sites, oil production in India is

expected to go up four times. The Petroleum Ministry is working on a plan,

which would boost the Indian economy.
