Ministry of Heavy Industries launches AMP 2047 to boost India’s automotive sector

Delhi, 17 July (H.S.): The Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, is formulating the Automotive Mission Plan 2047 (AMP 2047) under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Minister Shri H.D Kumaraswamy. This strategic roadmap supports the ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ vision and builds on prior plans that fostered growth in the automotive sector via stakeholder collaboration. AMP 2047 aims to enhance innovation, global competitiveness, and sustainable development, positioning India as a global automotive leader by 2047.

The inaugural meeting of AMP 2047 Sub-Committees established objectives and a framework, with Additional Secretary Dr. Hanif Qureshi emphasizing the importance of strategic targets for growth and competitiveness. The meeting assembled representatives from various ministries and industry bodies such as SIAM, ACMA, and CII, initiating an industry-led effort for the plan’s development.

AMP 2047 will integrate the collective vision of stakeholders including OEMs, auto component manufacturers, policymakers, and academia, addressing challenges such as technological advancements and charging infrastructure. Seven Sub-Committees will steer the comprehensive plan with milestones for 2030, 2037, and 2047. The Ministry is committed to creating a self-reliant, innovative automotive ecosystem and anticipates valuable contributions from all stakeholders towards achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047.
