
Chennai, 8 March (H.S.): In a harrowing incident occurred on Saturday, nearly 40 passengers on board a State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) luxury bus had a narrow escape after the vehicle crashed into the median of a newly constructed flyover on the Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway.
The accident occurred morning when the bus, traveling from Chennai to Bengaluru, lost control while speeding on the flyover near Dhamaal in Kancheepuram. The bus rammed into the median, getting stuck between two parapet walls and dangling precariously from a height of about 40 feet.
Thanks to the swift response of onlookers, rescue teams, and police, all passengers were rescued from the vehicle. Fifteen injured passengers were taken to the Kancheepuram General Hospital for treatment.
The Baluchetty Chatiram police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations into the incident. The bus was lifted from the flyover with the help of a crane.
