Mixed signals from global market, mixed trading in Asia

New Delhi, August 8 (H.S.): Today’s global markets are sending mixed signals. American markets closed with varied outcomes after a pressured trading session, with Dow Jones futures trending upwards. The Dow Jones fell by 530 points, while the S&P 500 dipped by 0.08% to 6,340 points, contrasting with the Nasdaq’s increase of 0.35%, closing at 21,242.70 points. Currently, Dow Jones futures are at 44,099.49 points, up by 0.30%.

European markets similarly saw mixed results; the FTSE index fell by 0.70% to 9,100.77 points, and the CAC index dropped by 0.96% to 7,709.32 points, while the DAX index rose by 1.11% to 24,192.50 points.

In Asia, trading remains mixed: of 9 markets, 5 indices are down and 4 are up. The Nikkei index climbed strongly, increasing by 2.28% to 41,997 points, while the Jakarta Composite rose by 0.61% to 7,535.82 points. Other indices like the Taiwan Weighted and Shanghai Composite showed slight increases. Conversely, the GIFT Nifty declined by 0.34%, and the Straits Times index fell by 0.53%. Hang Seng, Kospi, and SET Composite also recorded downturns.
