Mudra Yojana aims to empower youth to stand on their own feet: PM Modi

Delhi, 8 April (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the 10-year milestone of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana in New Delhi, engaging with beneficiaries and emphasizing the importance of recognizing support from bank officials. He encouraged beneficiaries to share their success stories, highlighting transformative experiences.

For instance, Gopi Krishna from Kerala shifted to renewable energy with the PM Surya Ghar initiative, significantly cutting household electricity bills. A female entrepreneur from Raipur transitioned from home cooking to a successful café, noting the importance of understanding profit margins. Additionally, Mudassir Naqshbandi from Kashmir grew his cake business, employing 42 people, while Lavkush Mehra from Bhopal expanded his pharmaceutical venture.

The Prime Minister urged sharing entrepreneurial journeys to inspire youth to utilize Mudra loans.

A woman from Manali transitioned from the vegetable market to business success, aided by ₹32.5 lakh in Mudra loans. She repaid her first ₹2.5 lakh loan in two and a half years, earning ₹10 to ₹15 lakh annually.

Another entrepreneur from Andhra Pradesh transformed from housewife to jute bag producer with a ₹2 lakh loan in 2019. Her repayment history earned her an additional ₹9.5 lakh in 2022, showing the scheme’s growth potential. Poonam Kumari from Bihar, supported by her husband, received an ₹8 lakh loan for a seed business, achieving a monthly income of ₹60,000.

Prime Minister Modi praised these stories, noting the Mudra Yojana’s significant role in empowering entrepreneurs, particularly women, and fostering economic growth in India.
