Balochistan/Delhi, 9 March (H.S.): Mufti Shah Mir, the controversial Muslim ‘scholar’ allegedly involved in aiding Pakistan’s ISI in abducting Kulbhushan Jadhav, was shot dead by unidentified attackers in Turbat, Balochistan, shortly after leaving a mosque. His close ties with JIU-F, an Islamic fundamentalist party, and his involvement in illegal activities like human smuggling, drug, and arms trafficking, were highlighted.
Mir had created a cover as a militant by frequently visiting terrorist training camps, facilitating the infiltration of terrorists into India. Following ISI directives, he extended his operations into Afghanistan, relaying crucial intelligence to the Pakistani military about insurgent groups, which enabled significant operations against them.
Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding his assassination. Mir’s death adds to the ongoing complexities of extremism and intelligence operations in the region.
