Mystery shrouds death of married woman, family alleges dowry killing in UP

Mirzapur, 18 May (HS): A married woman died under suspicious

circumstances in Tilthi village under Chilh police station area of ​​the

district. The deceased has been identified as Priyanka Yadav (30). Priyanka’s

parents have made serious allegations against her in-laws of murdering her for

dowry.

Priyanka Yadav, daughter of Chandraprakash Yadav, resident of

Kochari village of Sureri police station area of ​​Jaunpur district, was

married to Ragho Yadav, resident of Tilthi village of Mirzapur on 20 May 2018.

The deceased’s father Chandraprakash Yadav alleged that since the marriage, the

people of the in-laws’ side constantly harassed his daughter for dowry.

He told that on 11 May 2025, the in-laws took the gold chain

from Priyanka by putting pressure on her. After this, on 14 May, about 15

people including the deceased’s brother-in-law Golu Yadav reached her maternal

home and after a dispute, took Priyanka to her in-laws’ house and threats were

given at that time too.

Chandraprakash Yadav alleged that on Sunday morning around 7 am,

Priyanka was murdered for dowry by her husband Ragho Yadav, father-in-law

Ramesh Yadav, mother-in-law Meera Devi, brother-in-law Anni Yadav and Golu

Yadav.

On receiving information about the incident, Chilh police

station in-charge Vijay Shankar Singh and Chetganj outpost in-charge Rajiv

Kumar Srivastava reached the spot with police force and took the body of the

deceased into custody and sent it for post-mortem.
