N Chandrasekaran to Helm Tata Sons Until 2032 in Landmark Term Extension

N. Chandrasekaran

Delhi, 13 October (H.S.): In a significant move that breaks from tradition, N. Chandrasekaran’s tenure as the Chairman of Tata Sons has been extended until 2032. This decision, announced amidst internal group discussions, secures his leadership for an unprecedented third term.

Official sources confirmed on Monday that Tata Trusts has unanimously approved the extension. The move represents a historic departure from the conglomerate’s long-standing retirement policy, allowing Chandrasekaran to serve until he is 70 years old. His current term was scheduled to conclude in February 2027.

This approval marks the first time in the group’s history that a chairman will continue in a full executive capacity beyond the conventional retirement age. Chandrasekaran’s journey with the Tata Group began in 1987 as an intern at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
