National Games: Odisha, Uttarakhand and Services won the finals of Kayaking and Canoeing Sprint

Tehri, February 13 (HS): Exciting matches were seen on the last day of the Kayaking and Canoeing Sprint competition in Tehri Lake under the 38th National Games. In the 500 meter events of men and women category, the players displayed their strength, coordination and strategy brilliantly.

Women K-4 500 meters: Odisha team hoisted the flag

In the women’s K-4 500 meters event, the Odisha team performed brilliantly and captured the gold medal. The quartet of Shruti Chougule, Oinam Bidya Devi, Oinam Binita Chanu and Khwairakpam Dhanamanjuri Devi finished the race in 01:46.95 and secured the first position.

The Madhya Pradesh team, which included Nidhi, Daly Bishnoi, Manaswini Swain and L. Meena Devi, crossed the finish line in 01:48.65 to win the silver medal. Kerala’s team of Anna Elizabeth, Elina Biju, Andrea Paulos and Treesa Jacob won the bronze medal with a time of 01:49.19.

Women’s K-1 500m: Uttarakhand’s Sonia Devi won gold

In the women’s K-1 500m event, Fairenban Sonia Devi of Uttarakhand showed her speed in water and won the gold medal. She thrilled the spectators by completing the race in 02:06.935 seconds.

Services’ G. Parvati won the silver medal with a time of 02:07.800, while Odisha’s Khwairakpam Dhanamanjuri Devi won the bronze medal with a time of 02:08.466.

Men’s K-4 500m: Services show strength

In the men’s K-4 500m event, the Services team displayed excellent coordination and speed and won the gold medal with a time of 01:28.320. The team of Sunny Kumar, Varinder Singh, Goli Ramesh and Ajeet Singh secured the first position.

The team of host state Uttarakhand also gave a tough fight. The team of Aditya Saini, Vishal Dhangi, Harshvardhan Singh Shekhawat and Prabhat Kumar won the silver medal with a time of 01:28.609 seconds. At the same time, the team of Madhya Pradesh (Akshit Baroi, Himanshu Tandon, Sachin and Ningombam Manjeet Meetei) crossed the finish line in 01:30.355 seconds and captured the bronze medal.
